Why Your Marriage Needs a Vacation
Bob and I just got back from vacation in the Canadian Rockies. It was magnificent. There is nothing that soothes the soul more than being in nature. We were in awe of the endless views of mountains, cloud formations, blue rivers and lakes and powerful waterfalls. Check out a few pictures from our vacation below.Once a year we go away, just the two of us - no family, no kids, no friends. Sometimes we are even "off the grid" for part of the time. We always felt getting away together was important, and now, looking back, I can clearly tell you it has strengthened and enhanced our marriage. We hear from many couples that they can't take time away – no time, no money, no babysitter. We struggled with those same issues. It's not easy. We say: find a way. It doesn't have to be long, or far away, or expensive. When our kids were little, we would go to inexpensive bed and breakfasts for one or two nights within an hour of home. The point is to find a way that works for you.I wanted to share a fascinating article from the US Travel Association, describing the impact of travel on couples and relationships. Check it out.
